Robert Blake, a Hollywood actor who played a detective on television and a psychotic killer in the movies, was found not guilty after the long-lasting trial on his wife’s murder. The once popular actor was on the verge of tears when announced innocent.
Blake, 71, was accused of killing his wife Bonny Lee Bakley, 44, as he felt trapped in the marriage that gave him no relief, except his little daughter Rosie.
The jurors have been deliberating for nine long days, after which said Blake could not kill his wife as no blood spatters or gun residue were found. Blake also denied soliciting to kill his wife.
The actor said he had spent as much as $10 million on his defense.
Robert Blake started his movie career when he was a child and played Little Mickey in the "Our Gang" series. Later, he played in Truman Capote’s real-life thriller "In Cold Blood." He became famous after the role of a police detective in the 1970s television show "Baretta."
