26 insurgents killed by US military in Iraq The US troops killed 26 Iraqi militants in the biggest after clash after January 30 election. Six US soldiers were wounded.

Iraqi insurgents attacked a US convoy with gunfire and rocket-propelled grenades. The clash killed 26 militants and wounded 6 US soldiers.

Six rocket-propelled grenade launchers, 16 rockets, 13 machine guns, 22 assault weapons, more than 2,900 rounds of ammunition and 40 hand grenades were found by the troops after the clash.

On Sunday, insurgents attacked the units of the military police and artillery 20 miles southeast of Baghdad.

On Monday, gunmen in two speeding cars opened fire on an Iraqi army foot patrol in the western Baghdad neighborhood of Amiriyah. He killed one soldier and wounded another.
