The round table talks on Chechnya, which began in Strasbourg on Monday, has been led in a strange atmosphere of mutual accusations and promises.
Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) accused Russian-controlled government agents of people "disappearances" in Chechnya, stated by the reports of the US-based Human Rights Watch (HRW).
Chechen President Alu Alkhanov, who led the representatives of the Chechen Republic at the meeting, said that foreign media were unreasonable in their facts and figures. Still, all delegates managed to get agreement on the cooperative struggle against terrorism and crimes in Chechnya.
The negotiations resulted in the "crime against humanity" resolution, thus, creating a positive start for resolving the issue.
