The U.S. District Judge Leonie M. Brinkema is forced by by the federal prosecutors to schedule the trial for 9/11 suspect for October. The Judge has not made final decision yet.
Earlier this week, the US Supreme Court rejected an appeal from Zacarias Moussaoui, the only suspect of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
Federal prosecutors said jury selection should begin Oct. 3, with opening statements scheduled for Oct. 31.
In case the Judge agrees with the demand it would be the first trial over the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Moussaoui is a French citizen. He was accused December 2001 of conspiring with al Qaeda in the attacks. Mr. Moussaoui pleaded not guilty, though admitting his membership in al Qaeda.
The trial, originally scheduled for October 2002, has been delayed as many as three times.
