Two die in Lebanon Christian city blast
(by Dr.Goldfinger)

Two people died as a result of a powerful blast in the Christian city near Beirut, pointing at the crucial aftermath of the country’s crisis started with the assassination of the Lebanese opposition leader.

The blast killed a Sri Lankan and an Indian who worked as cleaners in Jounieh, a Christian port city about 16 kilometres north of Beirut.

This is the second attack in five days from the pro-Syrian supporters that blame the US of being involved in the relations between Lebanon and its ally Syria. Earlier, pro-Syrian supporters held a demonstration near the US Embassy in Beirut tearing up photos of the US President George W. Bush and calling the US to stop interfering in their country’s affairs.

The blast was organized by Syrian-backed security agencies of Lebanon, the country’s Christian opposition says. The opposition demands the resignation of the country’s security chiefs that failed to conduct a fair investigation of February 14 assassination of the opposition leader Rafik Hariri.

"It has become clear to everyone that the security regime and its collaborators are responsible for terrorising the people that united behind the demands of the opposition," Christian opposition said in a statement.
