US insists international monitors to be present at Lebanon elections
The US appeals to Lebanon to hold its general elections as in the schedule and recomends it to invite international monitors, even though the country faces a government crisis that threatens to delay the May polls.

"Elections must move forward -- free and fair elections in the presence of international observers -- in their scheduled time. That should be the priority," Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Satterfield told reporters on a visit to Beirut. He also added that "different political environment in Lebanon, which has been dominated by Syria for three decades."
