The U.S. government expressed its regrets concerning the fact that Japan allowed the former world chess champion Bobby Fisher to leave the detention center and fly to the Iceland where he was granted citizenship.
After spending eight months in a detention center in Japan Fisher stated that "This was not an arrest." "It was a kidnapping cooked up by U.S. President George W.Bush and Japanese President Junichiro Koizumi.""They are war criminals and should be hung,’’ he said.
Fortunately today he has arrived at Reykjavik airport, said that he is feeling "good, very good," and accepted a bouquet of flowers from fans before sitting in a car.
"My passport was perfectly good," Fischer insisted on the SAS flight to Copenhagen.
"It’s just my misfortune that this criminal idiot Koizumi ... is a close friend of Bush and he’s willing to do anything Bush tells him," Fischer said.
"I grew up with the concept of freedom of speech. I’m too old,’ he said. "It’s too late for me to adjust to the new world, the new world order," he said with a chuckle.
In case Fisher’s guilt was proved he could face 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
