Laura Bush, U.S. first lady, librarian and a former school teacher, today is on her first visit in Afghanistan promoting women education, abolished by the Taliban government which was defeated by U.S.-led forces three years ago.
In the U.S. base at Bagram Laura Bush boarded helicopter to reach Kabul.
Reception of the U.S. first lady was organised in a symbolic way with girls wearing red dresses and green scarves symbolising women’s dormitory recover.
"My dream will be that it will be an educated country where all these little girls who started school two years ago on March 23rd will havegraduated from high school and be going to Kabul University or some of these other universities there," Laura Bush said.
