Talabani announces his anti-terrorist policy
(by Tash Koon)

Talabani announces his anti-terrorist policy Iraq’s newly elected Jalal Talabani announced that his policy will be aimed at curbing terrorism and drafting a new constitution that will consider priorities of all population groups.

"We will seek to uproot terrorism and eliminate criminals while expanding democracy and freedom in all Iraq," Talabani said in an interview.

"We will also seek to draft a new constitution on a consensus basis between all the Iraqi groups and factions and want to have all parties, be they Arab, Kurds, Sunni or Shiite, involved in writing the constitution," he also said.

Talabani was elected Wednesday by the Iraqi Legislative Assembly, becoming the first non-Arab president of an Arab state in a landmark move for the Kurdish minority.
