Survey: US second-half growth forecast dampened
(by Olivia Cohen)

Survey: US second-half growth forecast dampened The US economy will see slowdown in the second half on higher energy prices and recent rate hikes, according to the survey of economists conducted by Bloomberg News.

The survey of 62 economists showed that the US economy growth will slow down later this year as energy prices go higher and Fed continues its rate-hiking policy.

The economists surveyed by Bloomberg said that the economy will grow at an average 3.5% annually from July through December. The economy expanded 3.9% for the first six months of the year. Last month, the economists’ forecast for the growth accounted to 3.7%, according to Bloomberg.

Growing gasoline prices will weigh on the largest economy in the world that is on its way to recover from the recession.

Federal Reserve hiked interest rates to 2.75%, pursuing the policy of «measured pace». This is the fifth consequent hike since June.
