About 500 Iraqi Security Force and U.S. militants participated in the operation in the al-Rasheed district at 9 am. local time.

Those detained in today’s battling ``are suspected of committing numerous crimes and activities to include assassinations, beheadings, kidnapping, intimidation, and attacks against both Iraqi Security Forces and Coalition Forces,’’ Major Ross Coffman, operations officer for 4th Brigade Combat Team, said in the statement.
