Italian opposition stressed the need for the country’s Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi to resign as a way of improving the situation for the eurozone’s nation with the slowest economic growth.
The changes will be lucrative for the country’s economy as the switch in the cabinet would bring new wind to the long-lasting ruling of Berlusconi, the second-longest one in Italy after Mussolini.
Berlusconi has the chance to remain the Prime Minister if he announces sweeping policy changes, some officials say.
``It’s impossible to continue on this path: either we hold elections, or we form a new government. Berlusconi has behaved very incorrectly with Fini. His behavior was an ugly disappointment,’’ said Italian Agriculture Minister Giovanni Alemanno.
Berlusconi will address the Senate at 3:30 p.m. (2:30 p.m. British time) in an attempt to show the ways for resolving the problem.
