Li Zhaoxing, China’s Foreign Minister, said it is important to resolve all the disputes with Japan peacefully and called to end up anti-Japanese demonstrations all over the country.
The demonstratons in major Chinese cities show the unwillingness of China to allow Japan gas drilling activities in the disputable area in the East China Sea.
The demonstrations, that started on April 2, urge Japan to wind up its drilling works in the disputed area and withdraw its bid for a permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council.
China is still criticizing Japanese occupation of China during 1931-45 but says it is necessary to keep friendly ties which were maintained for over 2,000 years and only a little spoiled in the 20th century by the aggressive actions of Japan.
On April 17, Beijing talks between China’s Li Zhaoxing and Japanese Foreign Minister Nobutaka Machimura did not give any positive result.
