The US Congress passed a bill that will help the US soldiers in Iraq but evoked contradictions over Senate filibuster rules and federal judgeships.
Iraq war and foreign-aid bill was sent to President George W. Bush by a unanimous vote last night with the total spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan amounting to $290 billion. The total for Iraq war is now about $210 billion, according to the estimate by West Virginia Sen. Robert Byrd, the Senate Appropriations Committee’s senior Democrat.
The bill is adding new insurance coverage, including an extended death payment. Personal costs are also predicted to grow and rely on active Reserve and National Guard forces.
The war bill is expected to have impact at home with the driver’s lisenses having new federal security standards and being a proxy national identification card for millions of Americans. «Real ID» requirements should be taken into account by every American as undocumented individuals would be disqualified.
