Tokyo stocks finished down on Thursday as technology shares declined following an overnight tumble on Wall Street and investors fears.
The Nikkei 225 average was down 1.3 per cent to 11,285.04 while the broader Topix index was down 0.8 per cent at 1,144.31.
Technology shares were broadly lower. Tokyo Electron, a maker of chip-related equipment, was down 2 per cent to Y5,340. Sony was off 0.5 per cent at Y3,930 and Canon was lower 0.2 per cent off at Y5,500. Toshiba shed 1 per cent to Y401.
